Pretty much all of the standard shapes have some story surrounding why that particular form was assigned that that specific moniker and the Prince is no exception. This was the favorite shape of Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David (Edward VIII, for short) and was named for him when he was the Prince of Wales. Within a year of ascending to the title of "King Edward VIII of the United Kingdom and the British dominions, Emperor of India" he chucked it all to marry an American divorcee named Wallis Simpson (something I sometimes suspect that the Brits still hold against us).
