Following the initial success of the Ashton Pipes in the early 1980's, Ashton's line of top quality tobaccos was released
in 1984 to complement this success. With the assistance of C. E. McConnell, Ltd of London a collection of blends using only
the finest tobaccos was developed. By using only traditional methods and purchasing tobacco of the highest quality, the
finished product was extraordinary.
Unfortunately, C. E. McConnell closed and a replacement had to be found. Fortunately, that replacement was McClelland
Tobacco Company, famed throughout the world for its exceptional pipe tobaccos. All of the original recipes as determined by
Ashton and C. E. McConnell have been faithfully followed. The resulting tobaccos are of the absolute highest quality
available associated with one of the greatest name in pipemaking, Ashton, and one of the greatest names in tobacco blending,
McClelland.
